This training series will support school leadership to critically evaluate teaching practices observed in their schools and determine both the strengths and needs of their teachers to ensure their play-based practices are reflective of what evidence suggests works best in the school environment.
Participants will be trained by Dr. Sarah Aiono in the use of the Play-Based Learning Observation Tool (P-BLOT: Aiono & McLaughlin, 2018) to observe teacher practice and identify areas in which teachers can be supported to implement evidence-based play practices that ensure students are appropriately supported in an effective play environment. The training includes two follow-up zoom sessions with the facilitator in Term 2 and 3 to discuss the use of the P-BLOT within the context of individual school settings and ways to respond to teacher learning needs as required.
